Self Portrait

AFTER TAKING PART IN THE GROUP CRITIQUE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE MODULE I FELT THAT MY CONCEPT WASNT STRONG ENOUGH TO BASE A FULL PROJECT ON.

A LOT OF PEOPLES CONCEPTS AND IDEAS HAD QUITE A PERSONAL MEANING BEHIND THEM.

MY INITIAL IDEA WAS QUITE SIMPLE IN COMPARISON AS I WAS ONLY LOOKING AT ONE ASPECT OF MY LIFE WHICH WAS THE JOBS THAT I HAVE HAD AND PLACES OF WORK.

I THOUGHT AGAIN FOR A WHILE ABOUT HOW I COULD EXPAND MY IDEA AND CONCEPT SO BEGAN TO LOOK THROUGH SOME OLD PHOTO ALBUMS WHICH BROUGHT BACK LOTS OF MEMORIES FROM MY CHILDHOOD.

I HAVE DECIDED TO LOOK INTO THE HOLIDAYS THAT I WENT ON WITH MY FAMILY  AS THESE HOLD A LOT OF MEMORIES.

I AM ALSO GONG TO LOOK AT THE OLD TOYS, BOOKS AND CLOTHES THAT I LOVED WHEN I WAS YOUNGER. AND GATHER SOME RESEARCH, IMAGES AND DRAWINGS OF THESE ITEMS AS I THINK THEY COULD CONTRIBUTE TOWARDS MY END PRODUCT.

I looked into Sabrina Ward Harrison when I was in College studying Design Crafts. As our current project is on 'Self Portrait' I thought it would be a good idea to go back and take another look through my old sketchbooks to get some inspiration for the project.

Sabrina Ward Harrison is a Canadian artist.
Her work is often set out like a journal which I really love the look it creates.
She collages together random photos and objects which represent memories and nostalgia.
I love how she uses handwriting and little doodles in her work.
I also find her work quite childlike in a way.
