Sabrina Ward Harrison

I looked into Sabrina Ward Harrison when I was in College studying Design Crafts. As our current project is on 'Self Portrait' I thought it would be a good idea to go back and take another look through my old sketchbooks to get some inspiration for the project.

Sabrina Ward Harrison is a Canadian artist.
Her work is often set out like a journal which I really love the look it creates.
She collages together random photos and objects which represent memories and nostalgia.
I love how she uses handwriting and little doodles in her work.
I also find her work quite childlike in a way.

Elisabeth Higgins O'Connor

http://www.elisabethhigginsoconnor.com/

Elisabeth Higgins O'Connor makes these highly expressive textile sculptures of an unexpected mix of scraps and typical household textile. These are really weird and unusual. I haven't seen products like this before!

Frédérique Morrel

French artist Frédérique Morrel has a mission to rescue the dying art of embroidery by giving it a contemporary twist.

Deer, unicorn, foxes and bunnies shed their hides in exchange for a new skin of vintage tapestries to become esoteric and wonderfully original pieces.

3D Botanical Cushions

Flicking through this months issue of Mollie Makes (Issue 40), these 3D botanical cushions caught my eye in the corner of a page. These cushions are made by Sabine Herrmann, i followed the website link to see more of her creations.

Spring Succulent pillow made to order
"The succulent image is custom printed on cotton-canvas. On the back of the pillow, I've used beautiful, thick linen and a decorative stitch along the seam line to give it a personal touch."

Pine cone pillow made to order
This pine cone cushion is so realistic from the front angle, amazing!

My neck piece that I have recently made is similar to these cushions as the petals on my lilies are made from photocopies of the actual petals which makes them seem lifelike.

Todd McLellan - Disassembly

Todd McLellan is an artist who has deconstructed a number of old objects and photographed them. It is very easy to take for granted the complexity of the items we use on a daily basis. Todd’s photographs remind us just how amazing these items can be.
