Elisabeth Higgins O'Connor

http://www.elisabethhigginsoconnor.com/

Elisabeth Higgins O'Connor makes these highly expressive textile sculptures of an unexpected mix of scraps and typical household textile. These are really weird and unusual. I haven't seen products like this before!

French artist Frédérique Morrel has a mission to rescue the dying art of embroidery by giving it a contemporary twist.

Deer, unicorn, foxes and bunnies shed their hides in exchange for a new skin of vintage tapestries to become esoteric and wonderfully original pieces.

3D Botanical Cushions

Flicking through this months issue of Mollie Makes (Issue 40), these 3D botanical cushions caught my eye in the corner of a page. These cushions are made by Sabine Herrmann, i followed the website link to see more of her creations.

This is the cushion that was featured in the magazine.
Spring Succulent pillow made to order
"The succulent image is custom printed on cotton-canvas. On the back of the pillow, I've used beautiful, thick linen and a decorative stitch along the seam line to give it a personal touch."

"The leaf image is custom printed on cotton-canvas. On the back of the pillow, I've used beautiful, thick linen and a decorative stitch along the seam line to give it a personal touch. Piping follows the stem of the leaf image on the front of the pillow which gives it a very sculptural feel."

Pine cone pillow made to order
This pine cone cushion is so realistic from the front angle, amazing!

My neck piece that I have recently made is similar to these cushions as the petals on my lilies are made from photocopies of the actual petals which makes them seem lifelike.

Megan Canning

Megan Canning is inspired by neuroscience, early medical diagrams, contemporary poetry, and traditional textiles, her work explores the dialogue between the physicality of the human body and the internal narrative of emotional and sensual memory.
"Hand-embroidery is my primary medium because sewing literally pierces the 'skin' of the paper or canvas, yielding an orderly, clean surface and a messy, chaotic underbelly -- just like the skin is a calm and placid exterior that masks the messy inner workings of the human body.

As human beings, we are in a constant state of becoming, of being made by our emotional and physical experiences -- by what we have smelled or touched, what we have seen or heard, where we have been or what we have eaten. My work attempts to illuminate the intricate relationship between the physical body and the individual emotions and memories it gathers over time, inviting the viewer to contemplate their own understanding of what it is to be human. "
I love the style of Megan's work. I love mixed media. She translates her drawings into hand embroidery and she captures every little intricate detail.

Pretty in Pastel

Liberty has released a seasonal spring collection of re worked liberty print classics specially updated by the in house design team. The collection is full of pastel colours which i love.

Liberty Art Fabrics - Perfect Pastel Edit
http://www.liberty.co.uk/perfect-pastels/article/fcp-content

Here are some of the gorgeous prints which caught my eye!

http://www.liberty.co.uk/fcp/product/Liberty//Ombrellino-C-Tana-Lawn/97268
Talented Interior Designer, Annabel Elliot, collaborated with the Liberty Design Team to choose this archival 1920s print to represent Liberty’s Furnishing Fabric Department. The Ombrellino fabric design is named after a house that Annabel's family used to own overlooking Florence called L'Ombrellino. She selected the design because it evokes memories of Italy and is reminiscent of the end of the summer holidays and going back to school.

http://www.liberty.co.uk/fcp/product/Liberty//Isle-of-Wight-C-Tana-Lawn/97284
Created in-house, using washes of ink and Rotring pen, the Isle of Wight fabric design was inspired by the vintage-style memorabilia found in the fourth floor’s RE concession room.

http://www.liberty.co.uk/fcp/product/Liberty//Daniel-DJ-C-Tana-Lawn/97328
Hand-drawn and finished with Rotring ink and Stabilo felt tip pen, theDaniel DJ fabric design is loosely based on two archival prints, each heavily influenced by Italian designer Fornasetti.

http://www.liberty.co.uk/fcp/product/Liberty//Holly-D-Tana-Lawn/97378
Created from photographs of ripped and ink splattered jeans, the Holly fabric design was inspired by the art of dyeing and distressing denim and represents Liberty’s Denim and Casualwear Department.

http://www.liberty.co.uk/fcp/product/Liberty//Mark-G-Tana-Lawn/100222
Created in-house, the Mark fabric design is a contemporary hand painted paisley inspired by Islamic calligraphy. It has formed part of the classic Tana Lawn collection since 2004.

Chintzy floral eggs

Textile Egg Decoration
http://www.notonthehighstreet.com/shyviolet/product/eggcup-decoration
"Apple blossom"  "ribbons and bows" "red roses"
These fabric eggs are really unusual.
The chintzy floral prints are something that you would usually find on wallpaper and curtains.
They are really different, you don't normally see things like this.
I really like them and i can see them being used as decoration in a cute little country cottage.
