Parrots!

I found these brightly coloured decorative plates in the new arrivals section on anthropologie's website.

I thought the parrot design was similar to paperchase's new range 'zanzibar' which i seen in store the other day but after going to the paperchase website to look at the range again, they are not as similar as I first thought they were!

I love this range! It's really bold and exotic and i really like the vibrant, vivid colour scheme.

Peacock feather

I don't think the contrast between the lily and feather goes too well. The flower looks quite realistic and I don't think that the feather doesn't. I am going to try out a few more techniques to see if i can create a more realistic feather or I might make the neck piece without them.

Quirky headpieces that are perfect for Royal Ascot, Wedding headwear, fascinators, hats and headdresses.

I came across 'Pearls & Swine' whilst browsing pinterest looking for inspiration.  I love their decadent headpieces.

Nadia Flower

Researching floral, feathers and surrealism, i came across New Zealand based illustrator Nadia Flower.

I find the way she mixes things that wouldn't normally be seen together interesting. Such as lilies with fish, teeth with wings, skulls, unicorns and toadstools! Here are some examples of her illustrations.

I really like these etched panels by Oka. 

The etching technique really shows the intricate detail of the feathers and makes them look realistic.

This was made from cartridge paper, ticket card, tissue paper, masking tape and wire. The colour was added with coloured pencils

Week 2 - A potted plant

This was made from ticket card, cartridge paper, tracing paper, masking tape and wire. The colour was added with felt tips.
