Paper Mache

For my 3rd 3D drawing i tried out paper mache again to create the bottle. I then used watercolours, tracing paper, felt tips, biro and fine liner to create the label. First I tried to make the bottle using acetate which would have made the 3D drawing look more realistic but as it was hard to manipulate I resorted to paper mache.

Enlarging bottles

Yesterday I enlarged some of my bottle drawings by 200% and 300% to see what size would work best as a print on a cushion. I then traced the drawing onto acetate and painted on the label.

Brooches

These are some vinatge brooches that I have collected from Charity shops, markets and ebay. I think these could be great inspiration for future projects.

Market buys

On Thursday morning I went to the outdoor market with Katherine
I thought these items would be good primary sources to draw from. Here is what I bought.

3 plates - £4.00

Mothers Day at M&S

http://printpattern.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/mothers-day-2014-marks-spencer-pt2.html

I really like this mothers day card from Marks and Spencers. I'm not too sure if the design is a print or whether the intricate detail has actually been hand embroidered but either way i think it is a great effect.

Soap Packaging

Scrolling through the WGSN website this soap packaging caught my eye. The labels remind me of the labels on the vintage perfume bottles I have been looking at for my current project. They are really decorative and colourful.

'Portugal is known for its beautifully wrapped traditional soaps. Packaging is covered in pretty floral motifs, vintage prints and old-fashioned letterings, lending soaps an air of charming desuetude.'

Texture

This textile piece has a great mix of electric colours. The materials used creates great textures. The materials used were weft yarns, vibrant silks, space dyed knots and ladder yarns.

Soft poetry

This theme has a modern poetic atmosphere, flowers and nature are taken as inspiration and seen through a soft focus lens or a diluted wash of watercolour. New applications of photographic prints are applied to textiles and ceramics and embellished with embroidery, over-prints or layered with poetic phrases and poems. Colours are soft and delicate with charcoal black and slightly stronger yellow and fuchsia introducing contrast.

Looking at the gift section of this trend:
I really like these landscape cushions they have really a really soft colour scheme which gives off a calming feel.

Miladi thread fan

The second 3D drawing I decided to make was a bigger version of this vintage Miladi thread fan. first I enlarged one of the threads on the photocopier. Then created the threads using ticket card which i painted and added the text using watercolors and fine liner. I then wrapped the thread cards with embroidery threads. To add the colour to the back of the threads I used a teabag to stain them to create an aged look.
I am pleased with how this has turned out and think this could make a very interesting cushion!

Delicate, feminine, washy perfume bottles

I love the style of these perfume bottle drawings. I am going to try and draw some of my own bottles in this style with watercolours and ink.

Resin

Own Photos

This is a wall hanging that I made a couple of years ago at college.
It consists of paper cameo beads, wallpaper beads, ceramic discs which have lace sewn around the edge, curtain hoops wrapped in embroidery threads, copper tags with lace imprints and resin discs made using pringle lids. I really liked how the resin discs turned out and thought they related to the theme of my current project.

Vintage Perfume Box

I love this vintage perfume box. I have opened up the box, photocopied and enlarged it.
I am going to try and create a 3D drawing of the box.
